1. Prepare the room for wallpaper by removing the furniture or getting the furniture as far away from the walls as possible. If you have enough room, set up a table you can use as your cutting table. Remove everything from the walls including light switch covers and clean the walls. Patch holes and sand smooth.
2. Apply wallpaper sizing to make the walls sticky.
3. Start in the least conspicuous corner of the room and draw a straight vertical line for your starting point.
4. Trim the edge of the paper so that little or no pattern shows and attach it to your starting line.
5. Cut the first strip, paying attention to pattern repeat, and soak it in water.
6. Fold the top edge of the paper to the ceiling of your starting point, sticky side to the wall.
7. Smooth the paper down from the top. When straight, brush out wrinkles.
8. Align seams of subsequent strips so that they touch but do not overlap.
9. Use a seam roller to press seams into place. Gently remove excess paste with a wall sponge as you go along.
10. Trim carefully around doors, windows, and molding.
