How Do I Research Stocks?

There are many places online you can go to research stocks. You can look up ticker symbols, find out what exchange the stock trades on, see what its history is, see who the CEO of the company is, and more, by going to a financial site such as Yahoo Money or CNN Financial. Such sites are also good sources for articles on the current events in different industries; events that could have an impact on the performance of the stock.

Investors can also attend investor trade shows. All kinds of companies exhibit at these shows to educate investors and woo them into buy the company’s stock. Public companies, Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), gold companies, Options companies, Futures companies. Stock exchanges even participate in these events to promote the particular stocks that trade on their exchange.

If you attend such an event, you may want to collect all your information, then verify the vendors’ claims on Yahoo Finance or Morningstar. That way you can be sure you have the unbiased information you need to make a decision.
