DOS
DOS stands for Disk Operating System. It was developed
by Microsoft as an operating system in the 1980s. Windows
3.x needed DOS to run, but Windows 95, 98, and 2000 do not.
The later versions of Windows can still run DOS programs,
as well as those designed specifically for Windows.
