Segments

A trunk of cabling connecting a device to a concentrating device or routing device. A logical group of devices which communicate within a given subnet that is separated by a router, bridge, multiplexer, or switching hub.

Backbones

Foundation of LAN/WAN where servers are linked together. Also a shared cable on a network.
