Adding Content to Your Site

Importing Text

If your web page will contain a lot of text, you can compose the text in Microsoft Word and then import the document into a new Dreamweaver HTML page:

  1. Open the File menu and select Import, then Word Document.
  2. In the Open dialog, browse to the location of the document and click Open.
  3. Dreamweaver loads the contents of the document into the current page.

Tip:

If you save the Word document as an HTML file, you can simply open it in Dreamweaver by selecting Open from the File menu.

Cleaning Up Microsoft Word HTML

Microsoft Word documents can contain formatting that isn't necessary for use in Dreamweaver, and that can often clutter the HTML code, making it difficult to work with. You can have Dreamweaver automatically clean up this formatting using the Clean Up Word HTML command in the Command menu.

When you select this command, Dreamweaver opens the Clean Up Word HTML dialog, which allows you to select the types of formatting you want to remove.

If Show log on completion is checked, Dreamweaver displays a summary of the results when it's finished.
